Cleaning
Up Oil Spills
[ send
me this paper ]
12 pages in length. The world's oceans and shorelines have
been ravaged by the significant damage caused by crude oil
spills. Tankers that have fallen victim to the wrath of
Mother Nature or human error have strewn tons of slick and
mucky cargo across waterways, land strips and animal
habitats. While prevention is the key to avoiding such
disasters, there still remain unforeseen factors that
continue to establish oil transport as a dangerous endeavor.
When oil spills occur, clean up efforts must begin
immediately in order to reduce the any further damaging
influences. The writer discusses the many aspects of an oil
spill clean up effort. Bibliography lists 7 sources.

Global
Interrelations Of Environmental Issues
[ send
me this paper ]
8 pages in length. The issue at hand is the environmental
disaster of global oil spills. There is nary a waterway in
the world that has not been poisoned by the black muck of
crude oil as it gushes from broken lines and damaged
tankers. To be sure, every precaution is taken to avert such
catastrophes but because of the human element involved,
there are always inherent dangers with transporting oil. The
writer compares the political impact of Scotland and the
United States as it relates to environmental issues.

Rhode
Island and the Oil Spill of 1996
[ send
me this paper ]

of Rhode Island. An oil barge, the “North Cape,” ran
aground in sand 150 yards off Moonstone Beach near Kingston,

four million gallons. The resulting spill of 828,000 gallons
of Number 2 heating oil wreaked a catastrophic toll of
marine wildlife and forced closure of the area's fishing for
five months. Issues discussed include the environmental and
economic impacts, as well as the possible preventive
measures that could and should lessen the likelihood of it
happening again. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
